Before you change DNS
- Confirm who controls the domain and where current DNS records are hosted.
- Export or screenshot existing A, CNAME, MX, TXT, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.
- Lower the DNS TTL at least a few hours before the final switch when possible.
Email settings to keep nearby
- Use IMAP for reading mail on multiple devices and SMTP for sending.
- Keep mailbox passwords unique and store them in a password manager.
- Enable the provided SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records before sending from the domain.
WordPress launch checks
- Confirm SSL is active, admin users are intentional, and default starter posts are removed.
- Check contact forms, newsletter forms, cache, redirects, and mobile layouts.
- Take a fresh backup after launch so the first clean restore point is available.
